‘Match of the Day’ grew out of a conversation with friends when we were heading up to the stadium one Saturday before a really big match. The phrase ‘match of the day’ really stuck in my mind and started to dominate my thoughts during the game! All I could think of was getting back to the studio to get to work. It was a great game and we all went back to a friend’s – I was completely unable to get away to my studio so I asked if I could create a studio outside his house. It took all three of us long into the night working with lights, cushions and mirrors on a cold stone floor with passing onlookers fascinated by what we were up to and neighbours’ curtains twitching.
